If terms like: underway, field day, day after duty, kick-out, ORSE, COB, EDMC, Eng, nuke, coner, are familiar to you…. then you must be a Navy Wife, maybe even a Submarine Wife.
Hello Everyone and a big Thank You to Andi for asking me to contribute. I’ve been reading and following Spouse BUZZ since before the New Year and can I say, I am thrilled to be here to represent the Navy! I know there are a TON of Army & AF spouses here that I can’t wait to get to know, but let me go ahead and just say what’s on my heart.
GO NAVY!
Whew…..ok, now I can get back to business.
So, just who is this latest milspouse extraordinaire? I’ve been associated with the military for over 13 years. I’m married to the best looking submariner in the Navy (he asked me if my intro said this…which it didn’t….so here I am adding it!), he just hit 20 years of service. We have two boys (10 and 19) , 2 dogs (beagles) and hopefully soon a fish aquarium.
He started his career on a fast attack (USS Sturgeon – he says I should include that since it gives him more "credibility") and his last two boats have been Tridents. We just moved from Kings Bay, GA and are now on shore duty in the mid south.
I’ve worked for both the US Army and US Air Force as a DOD Civ., headed a "Wives Support Group" (that was sort of dysfunctional – I try not to remember that time too much); lived in Germany for 4 years. I’m a soccer mom, graphic designer/web developer, love college basketball and I love to travel. Currently, I’m still trying to decorate my house after the move, adjust to the husband being home all the time (although there is always the threat of an IA), while still trying to run my little design studio. Current issues I’m dealing with that maybe you can relate to: I just lost my grandmother (she was like a mother to me) and I’m in denial about that sometimes, I struggle with my weight, I’m also a step-mom to a disgruntled teenager.
Since I am a Navy wife, my goal is to contribute milspouse content from a Navy spouse point of view that is informative, relevant, and inspiring… with a little humor sprinkled in for fun. I’d like SpouseBUZZ to attract more and more Navy spouses. I can’t guarantee I’ll be as funny as airforcewife, however I’m going to give it my best.
Thanks for having me, it’s a pleasure to be apart of this great online community!

None of your Navy mumbojumbo means anything to this lil ol' Army wife, but we're glad to have you on the team! And don't feel pressured: no one is as funny as airforcewife.
WOW!! It has been a few years since I heard or seen those terms. Hubby is a former Sailor and current National Guardsman. Welcome I look forward to hearing from you more.
Welcome navy wife glad we have someone who can understand the lingo. I am a fellow navy wife so I am right there with ya.
I understand all of those Navy terms. Submariner's wife for almost 17 years. I found Spouse Buzz last year and love coming here. Welcome.
The only way is underway! It will be good to have a Nautical Spin on things over here at SpouseBuzz.com with the addition of Navy Wife.
Congrats!

You have the best similes and metaphors at your disposal–I'm quite jealous. ;) Welcome "aboard!"
And the submarine blogosphere continues to expand its influence… Congratulations!
You do have the best lingo, lucky!!!
Welcome much! Can't wait to hear more.
Thank you for deciding to contribute to Spousebuzz. As a new Navy wife, I am looking forward to all you have to say. Thanks Again Cathy :)
Welcome aboard Navy wife from a fellow Navy spouse (Surface Warfare Officer's wife). Glad to see some Navy presence here (although I truly enjoy reading posts from all walks of military existence)! It's a great insight into each others experiences. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
I'm so happy that my friend of 17 years is enjoying another on-line success venture!
She loves to share ideas and always got mad at me because I wasn't joining the LTC wife's coffee club while we were both in Europe. I kept telling her… I'm a female soldier… not a wife. Guess she knew I was destined to marry my hero… an Army soldier and eventually become a "dependent".
We traveled all over Europe during our "younger" stages of life and our lives over the years have been quite an adventure no matter what country or state we called "home." So this Navy girl… will have lots of knowledge to share. She's already clued me into some Navy lingo… hey, who knew that "land duty" wasn't a Navy term :o) I'm sure everyone will enjoy her contribution to this site!
To bad everyone can't personally see her infectious smile, but through her posts you will see it anyway!
WELCOME!!! I enjoy reading all the posts from the AF, Marine and Army spouses but I'm glad to finally see some lingo I don't have to google to understand!
Yay! Someone who can FINALLY help me understand Navy rank (I've got AF, Army and Marine Corps down pat). Petty officer is enlisted, right? haha. Welcome aboard!
Welcome Navywife!!!! Submariners wife here…great to have you here.

I was trying to get a little bit of insight about what it is like being a navy wife. Right now my boyfriend is very, very close to signing. We have been talking about getting married, and well I was just wanting some more information…it would mean a lot to me if you could maybe tell me a little about it or perhaps point me in a direction that I can figure out a little more.
I am MARIA ARDI B. FLUELLEN married to JADRIEN JAMAAL FLUELLEN working as US NAVY E5…is there anyone out there that can give me an idea to make my son become US CITIZEN without his father.it seems that i have no more contact and information to my husband. i have question too. my husband file divorce in CA. and i am still married to him here in Cebu,Philippines do u think this will be granted eventhough i did not sign anything??? please dont hesitate to email me fluellenrd@yahoo.com.ph…thank you and i hope someday all the answer to my question i can find.
I am not a Navy military spouse, but I am a Navy military mom as well as an Army mom . I have question in regards to submariners. I was told by a COB in Groton, CT when my son graduated from BESS School that because he not only volunteered to join the military, he volunteered for submarines as all who are submariners do…that he would have health benefits for the rest of his life even after he would get out of the Navy? Is this true? I cannot find any documentation to this information that I was told. Thanks.
