You Are My Family

First of all, I want to thank everyone who sent us condolences and wished us well upon hearing about my miscarriage.  Your comments helped me realize I'm definitely not alone -- not alone, in that many of you have also dealt with the loss of a pregnancy, and not alone, in that you are all here to help me through my range of emotions.  My SpouseBUZZ family has been such a comfort in these past two weeks; I have gotten numerous cards, emails, and packages in the mail from many of you.  I can't even tell you what it means that people who only know me from the internet have sent blankets, baked goodies, gift baskets, and boxes full of candy.  My husband said that he feels like George Bailey at the end of It's a Wonderful Life: we have discovered just how many people out there care for us.  You are my family, and I can't thank you enough.

But there's someone else I'd also like to thank...

Our local military hospital has been wonderful through this process.  The doctors in the emergency room did everything they could to figure out what the problem was.  The scheduling nurse on the phone helped me get an appointment right away.  The doctors who helped me schedule the D&C procedure, the nurses who sat by my side as the anesthesia wore off, and the OB nurses who have called my house in the past week to make sure I am doing OK, everyone has been so caring and helpful.  I couldn't have asked for a better way to go through a traumatic experience.

Sometimes it's easy for us to rag on our military health care providers.  Heck, sometimes they really do deserve it, I'm sure.  But we don't often think about all the services they provide to us without us having to pay an extra dime.  And I, for one, would like to thank the staff at Womack Medical Center for the outstanding care they've given me this month.

Anyone else have a positive medical experience you'd like to share?
