Ellen Miller to Talk With Milspouses About....Balance

Sometimes, I lean so far to the right that I can feel my right ear skimming the pavement. The next day, I lean so far to the left that my left ear is dragging the carpet. No, I'm not talking about politics here, I'm talking about life.

Life is hectic. And for military spouses, many of us find that we're constantly juggling extra responsibilities when our spouse is away for training, TDY and deployments. Suddenly, our workload and responsibilities have expanded, yet there's still only 24 hours in one day. Things must be done, and we have to figure out how to maximize those 24 hours and check all the blocks that must be checked.

Last year, I came to the realization that although I was constantly busy, I was running circles around myself and I wasn't accomplishing as much as I thought I was, or as much as I could be accomplishing. That's when it hit me....Being busy does not mean being productive. I admitted to myself that I suffered from "can't say no" disease (a military spouse must have created this disease). I needed to be cured. Fast. This year, I've made some adjustments and so far, they seem to be paying off. I am focused on a few things that are very important to me and I say no to things I can't give my all to. But it's not easy. Not easy at all. And I still have a lot of work to do.

Balance. It sounds so good, doesn't it? But achieving balance is a challenge for many of us. We look at our schedules and our commitments and it's hard to see where we can possibly trim some fat. Furthermore, we're often so busy taking care of everything and everyone else that we neglect to take care of ourselves.

SBTR is thrilled that on March 18, balance-guru Ellen Miller will join us to talk about achieving balance in our lives and carving out some time to care for the caretaker. Check out this video featuring Ellen. And look, she has a blog, too.

Love My Tanker is a huge Ellen Miller fan. In fact, LMT was the inspiration for booking Ellen on SBTR. Ellen is so excited about talking with military spouses. She said that she can't serve our country in the way that military families do but she felt this was an opportunity for her to give back. That's when I knew that Ellen was going to be an amazing guest! You don't want to miss this show. Ellen will talk with us about how to achieve balance in our lives, and she'll be taking your calls.

Balance - it's a beautiful thing.... I think it is, anyway. I'm not fully upright just yet, but I'm working on it. How about you?
