SurvivorBUZZ Update

Recently, I began working with a non-profit organization based out of California that is developing a national mentor program for the children of fallen soldiers. The program is unlike any currently available. They are also working to develop additional survivor programs. I will keep you posted as more information becomes available.

HR 2243 needs co-sponsors and support. To briefly summarize, this legislation aims to close the approx. 15% gap between military survivor benefits and federal employee survivor benefits. Many are unaware of the fact that military survivors receive the lesser percentage. If passed, military survivors would receive the same amount as federal survivors (55% of the sponsor's VA compensation). To request co-sponsorship and support for the bill, contact your local representative.

Youcan call 1-877-762-8762 to be connected by operator to your Representative or Senator's office.

Below is a list of websites for some organizations which offer help to the children of fallen soldiers in various ways. Copy, paste, and visit the site to find detailed information on each organization. On a side note, I recommend to always ask about each organization's privacy policy and, most important, security policy. If your child will be spending any amount of time with volunteers or staff, a thorough background check is a necessity.
