I have a book problem...

I am an avid reader and have read hundreds of books in my life. I love to read all sorts of different books - mostly fiction, but a lot of non-fiction as well. My two favorite authors are James Patterson and Janet Evanovich. LOVE their books! I also have a soft spot for John Grisham, Richard North Patterson, John Sanford, and a new one for me is Robin Cook.

I grew up reading Judy Blume and Nancy Drew. My dad would read the Chronicles of Narnia to us at night before bed. I have always had a love for books and I thank my parents for that. But now I have a problem.

My problem is that I don't have space for all of my books. My husband is also an avid reader and we have LOTS of books in our house! Every time we are preparing to move I shed some books. Then after we move I shed a few more as we try to make space for them all. After this last move (we are still unpacking boxes), I can't seem to shed any more of my books.

I don't think I have ever read any of my books more than once, but I have loaned lots of them to friends who I think would find them interesting. I can't figure out my attachment to these books, which is making it difficult to get rid of any of them (I usually donate books that are in good condition or give them to friends). My husband and I talked about this earlier this evening and we both struggle with giving up our books. He has a Kindle now, so all of the books he's read in the last year are on his Kindle. But he also finds it hard to get rid of his books.

Does anyone else have this problem? Or is there something else you have that you find difficult to give up when you really have no "need" for them when you move?

Also, are any of you fans of any of the authors I mentioned above? I love talking about my favorites with others who share my love of these authors!
