Oh, Yeah. I Forgot to Splurge….

Some kind soul gave me a gift certificate to a local spa recently, and I jumped for joy. I'm such a spa gal. I love being pampered. Part of the reason I love it so is that it's such a rare treat. Most of us rarely have the opportunity to spend a few hours at a spa being exfoliated, wrapped in seaweed or mud and receiving a delectable massage at the hands of a talented masseuse. It's like sipping fine wine from a bottle that costs $80. The anticipation is palpable and you savor every minute of it.

I try to do something out of the ordinary, to splurge at least once during a deployment. I realized that I didn't splurge at all during my husband's last deployment. Far from it….

I can't wait to book my spa appointment.

Do you splurge during a deployment or separation? If so, what's your pleasure?

Massages were my splurge last deployment. Ahhh!!!!

    Enjoy your spa day!
I don't really have a splurge when DH is deployed/ TDY. I tend to get excited about paying off certain bills (like the car or student loans) with the "extra" money he makes while he's gone.
Last deployment I paid off my student loans. DH's truck will be paid off next month (YAY!!!). And with this upcoming deployment I am hoping to pay off my car (provided I also have a job). I also plan to add more money to our kids' 529 Plan each month while he is deployed.
So I guess my splurge is more of a mental satisfaction that I can get us out of debt during deployments.

I get massages as my splurge, though I think it's less a splurge than a medical necessity.
I keep my stress in my neck and shoulders and without a massage I walk around painfully tense because I am so stressed.
Exercise helps somewhat, but it wasn't until I started the massage plan that I truly relaxed.

I'm with you Kirsten, though I never have gotten a massage. I have constant pain in my left neck and shoulder, though, with scoliosis on that side, I just live with it.
I don't really splurge while Sapper's gone-I go back to school (now I'm in a masters program) and I take the kids on trips. Maybe that's why I should get a massage! Do I have to wait until he leaves again to get one?

I work hard and bring in my own income, so I splurge monthly, LOL. I have a $100/mo budget for makeup, my guilty pleasure.
