About Love My Tanker

I am an Active Duty Army Wife. I have enjoyed living in the US and overseas. I have volunteered in many realms over the years with various FRGs, Sew Much Comfort and a Wounded Warrior Equine Therapy program. I consider myself lucky to have been a part of the SpouseBUZZ family since 2006.

I homeschool my children and continue to love volunteering when time allows. The Army life is a busy life, but a good life!

    secret shopping hoax. peh.
this bridal gown thing is interesting, but i can't figure out how i feel about it. not sure why.

  2. compareaholic says:

Certainly an interesting concept, but why limit it solely to military brides to be? There are plenty of women out there looking for cheaper wedding dresses, not just military girlfriends.

    • Meg says:

Military men and women sacrifice their lives for their country. The free dresses act as a "thank you" to military spouses and the sacrifices they must also make by having to keep their households together while their loved ones are away. Yes, there are plenty of women looking more affordable dresses, but what are they doing for their country to deserve them?

So far the comments posted seem like this is a bad thing? Since when is it a bad thing to "support our troops" and their soon to be families? I thing this is a great example of supporting our military something that has been forgotten over the years, our troops are still risking their lives everyday, and it's nice to see the random act of kindness being exemplified.

  4. Brooke says:

I agree with Elizabeth… I think this is a great thing. Women with men in the military deserve a free wedding dress. I think this type of thing is the least we can do to help support our military and their loved ones.

  5. Sabrina says:

I believe that this is an awesome idea. Being a Marine Corps wife, I have so many girlfriends that are getting married and can not afford that special dress they want. So to those who dont think that helping to provide something as special as a wedding dress to a fiance of a service member or says that there are other women out there looking for a cheap dress too just think of the sacrifice thats made by this future service members wife.

  6. Yvette says:

I'd like to participate and donate a gown myself…how do I do that? Any advice/help?

  7. Lisa says:

sure everyone is struggling financially, but spend a day in my shoes. My new husband (i'm a very recent bride) and I have been together almost 5 years and 3.4 of that he has been deployed or on TDY to some foreign area. He serves this country so that you have the freedom to go to a wedding store and buy your special dress. I'm disappointed in the fact that ANY of the comments are negative regarding this special event. you should be ashamed.
*new and very proud military wife*

  8. Tami says:

Our military members, sacrifice everything in their lives to give us the freedoms we enjoy in this country. I think this is a wonderful idea. Just one small thing we can do to show some support and appreciation for the time, effort and sacrifice that our military members and future family members give to this country. Kudos to the person that came up with this idea. I wish I were the owner of a bridal store so I could do something this wonderful for some young military families.

  9. victoria Foster says:

I think this is a great idea! I'm an army wife and it gets really hard sometimes. Whether it's deployment, TDY, or just 20 hour work days, military wives and girlfriends are constantly missing their men. Not only missing them, but worried sick all the time. Wondering if their husband is going to die or be wounded in action. It's scary sometimes. Some military wives don't get to see their husbands everyday or even talk to them. I think that deserves something extra.

  10. Cathy says:

I can't believe there are some negative comments about this. There may be many women looking for cheap wedding gowns, but not all of them sacrificed what soon to be military wives do. Many women do not get to experience a real wedding when marrying a service member. I am one of those. We had a fast, small ceremony so I could get to my husbands new duty station quickly that was 5,000 miles away! I didn't even have a wedding dress because we couldnt afford one. So I think this is a great idea. Military familes sacrifice so much. The service members are risking their lives to protect our freedom with not always that good of pay. So military brides definitely deserve this and not just the usual bride looking for a great deal.
    Very proud, newly military wife

I also am a newly engaged military bride, my fiance is over in afghanistan and I think this is a wonderful blessing for all the brides who have a husband to be overseas or whereever they are, yes the military brides deserve the best, so go troops go ,

  12. Shell says:

I am a recipient of a dress from this program and I can honestly say that it has been a major blessing in our lives!! With us not being married yet and he's deployed this would have been very difficult and almost impossible without them. I thank God for this program and am really sad that some people feel so negatively about it. As a military wife there is so much strain and sacrifice on a wifes behalf because we are left alone while our husbands are deployed and in my case we have four children. So I'm sorry but military brides are not your typical bride no matter how you put it. I know everyone struggles but try struggling and having your spouse taken from you whenever the Government says so. I'm not complaing because I love what my fiance does but it does take a special person to be able to live and handle this life-style.

I think it is an honorable thing to be able to provide a future military bride's dream wedding gown. Am interested in participating. How can that occur??
