Hot and Heavenly: I Love This Product

Unfortunately, I didn't acquire the sewing gene. The wrap-around skirt I made in home economics many years ago was my one and only tango with a sewing machine. There have been zillions of times in my adult life when I thought knowing how to sew would come in very, very handy. Curtains, clothes, slip covers. I could go on and on....

This past summer, I purchased a few pairs of cheap shorts. And I mean cheap in both senses of the word; inexpensive and poorly made. After only two washes, the hem came out of three of the four pairs of shorts. It's rare for me to find shorts I'm happy with, but I loved these shorts because they were the perfect length, cut and style. They had to be fixed.

If I possessed the sewing gene, this would have been a non-issue. But I don't. Therefore it was.

I could have sent them to the dry cleaners for repair, but that would have undoubtably cost more than I paid for the shorts. So, one day I popped into JoAnn Fabrics and found the product which has transformed my life....

HeatnBond

Okay, maybe "transformed my life" is a bit over the top, but it isan amazing product.

I fumbled the directions on the first pair (yeah, I'm gene-deficient there, too), but once I got the hang of it, the tape was straightforward and simple to use.

So far, the repaired shorts have held up well in the washing machine and dryer. After my success with the shorts, I bought some heavier Heat N" Bond and "hemmed" some curtains.

As I type, I'm wearing a pair of my beloved, once-defective, cheap shorts. So hey, I'm no longer afraid of purchasing cheap clothes. I've got a secret weapon now....
