If you’ve ever done an Internet search for what to wear to a homecoming, you’re not alone. Google would lead us to believe that on more than one occasion, a bevy of other people have embarked on the exact same hunt, and for good reason. If it’s your first homecoming or if you’re just racking your brain for the perfect outfit, a little inspiration can go a long way.
Search no further! We’ve turned to three of the Internet’s most fashionable women for advice on what to wear to a military homecoming with budget-conscious style. They’ve all got their own sense of fashion and flair, and each of them has some great ideas for what you might want to wear to your next homecoming. Click on the photo collection I’ve put together for links to all of these great items.
1. Jordan Reid (Ramshackle Glam) suggests this colorful zig-zag dressthat’s definitely friendly on your wallet at just $45. Like the idea but just not the cut for you? Graphics are all over the place right now and with a little looking, you’re sure to find something adorable. Francesca’s Collections has a darling striped number and The Webster for Target has a fun graphic printin perfect summery colors. The dress would even wear well into winter with some brown boots and a cozy drape sweater, and when you’re shopping on a budget, as we all are, it’s always great when you can find a dress that does double-duty year-round. Add some sparkly flats and a sweater and you’re set to go!
2. Julie and Lauren (Born and Bread) recommend a little LBD and a colorful clutch. Maybe you already have the perfect little black dress in your closet (I found mine at Target back in 2003), but even if you don’t, there are some great affordable options out there … and ditto for the clutch!
With its clean lines and great color, the orange clutch is my favorite, and while it looks like it could have come from Saks, it’s another terrific Target find, too.
3. Katy (Sugar Laws) suggests a cute sundress in a bright summer color with a big stack of bracelets or a fun necklace. If your honey has given you bracelets over the years, raid your jewelry box and wear stack them together. If you’re still looking, here are some options for bangles, stacks, and some killer necklaces that are all a steal.
All great options, but I cannot tell a lie: I still plan to deck out the family in ridiculous matching neon tees with my husband’s face printed on them. You did miss my sense of humor, honey, right? If he’s really lucky, maybe I’ll even make one for him. With our faces on it, of course.
What’s your favorite thing to wear to homecoming?
