Contest: Kick That Bucket List

I’m a list girl. The joy I feel from checking things off lists rise to the level of silly. I have even been known to proclaim “check, check, check!” to no one in particular as I cross off completed tasks.

I have a list of to-dos for today. I have for the week. I have one for the month. And of course I have the pièce de résistance of all checklists – the lifetime bucket list (split into “family” and “personal,” obviously).

Because we are family of fully certified geeks the number one thing on the family bucket list is “visit all US National Parks.” That’s why when Interior Department announced free America the Beautiful passes for active, guard and reserve families I was ecstatic. Because if there is one thing I love more than a trip to see a really awesome park, it’s a free trip to see a really awesome park.

I know we aren’t the only military family to sport a bucket list laden with extensive travel. Military families are adventurous by nature. We have to be to survive this crazy life.

So when the “Life’s Ultimate to-do List” Contest caught my eye I knew that this is a contest a military family should win.

Sponsored by the Hilton Garden Inn and National Georgraphic Traveler, this contest aims to give 10 winners a three day, two night trip valued up to $5,000 to check one thing off their bucket list.

“The trip will include roundtrip airfare for the winner and a guest to the destination of their choice near an eligible Hilton Garden Inn hotel, hotel accommodations at any eligible Hilton Garden Inn around the globe, spending money to spend on the activity, a flip camera to document the adventure and a year-long subscription to National Geographic Traveler.”

Yes, please.

To enter visit the Hilton’s Facebook page and see all the details. But do it fast, the contest closes Aug. 5.

And let us know, too – what’s on your travel bucket list? I’ll be submitting our national park plan and asking them to help me knock-out some parks in the Northeast. I want to see those fall colors for myself.
