FacebookXPinterestEmailEmailEmailShare

Liz is working on a story about the communities/support groups and friendships that military spouses build as a result of their partner's deployment She'sspecifically interested in how these groups of women (or women and men) help one another through the day to day tasks of either being a single parent, or simply being alone, with a partner overseas and what it means to be married to the military. Details below:

REAL SIMPLE IS MAGAZINE LOOKING FOR A GROUP OF MILITARY SPOUSES WHO HAVE FORMED A SUPPORT GROUP

If you are in a formal or informal support group and interested in sharing your story with a national magazine for an upcoming feature, please send the following information to writer Liz Welch (www.lizwelch.com) at her email address:lizmorganwelch at gmail dot com

- NAMES AND AGES OF EACH WOMEN IN GROUP(one or two men in the group would be fine!)

- WHERE THEY ARE BASED

- CONTACT INFORMATION FOR EACH (phone number or email address)

- PARAGRAPH DESCRIBING HOW THEY HELP ONE ANOTHER WHILE THEIR SPOUSES ARE GONE (both practically--ie, babysitting, grocery shopping, carpooling etc. to the more emotional ways they are there for one another)

- PHOTOGRAPH OF THE GROUP (either individual snap shots or a group shot would do)

If selected, I would come spend a few days wherever the group is located--US based is the only requirement--to do individual interviews as well as a group one (say they meet weekly for an impromptu or planned support group) We'd likely have a photographer come with me to take portraits or send him or her in the weeks following the interview to do so.
