A Military Childhood: The Albrecht Family

FacebookTwitterPinterestEmailEmailEmailShare

I have three children who have all lived their entire lives as Army Brats. Michael (now 16), Neil (14), Daniel (10). They are very happy to be Army BRATS! They stated a few years ago that BRAT stood for Bold, Resilient, Adaptable & Tolerant, so they carry the title proudly.

All three of my boys have missed plenty of holidays and special occasions. Our oldest two boys have endured many separations from both their dad and I while we both served. I have gotten out and become a SAHM but my husband still serves. My boys are very proud of their dad.

I love this picture, I truly believe it depicts the connection they all have with each other. My husband looking over his shoulder reminds me of the quote I read once...“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him." ~ G.K. Chesterton

The way the boys look up at their dad lets me know of the love and respect they have for him. He is their hero. This picture was taken in June 2006, when my husband was home on his R&R from Iraq.

Thanks to Nadine Albrect for this picture and story. In honor of the Month of the Military Child, SpouseBuzz is running stories of the many different ways military kids experience childhood.  Submit a picture of your military kids here.
